While Kal Tire team members are usually focused on getting drivers back on the road, a special fundraiser saw Manitoba stores raising money to help the Children and their families back on the path to health. Today, Kal Tire presented the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba with a cheque for $4,000.

To celebrate Kal Tire’s 60th anniversary earlier this year, several Kal Tire locations across the province raised money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Initiatives included proceeds from in-store sales, summer barbeques, garage sales and more. The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba is dedicated to ensuring that every child treated at the Children’s Hospital – HSC Winnipeg receives the best medical care possible.
“We picked the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba as our charity because children, families and health have always been a key focus for our organization,” says Ed Lauer, Director of Stores, Western Canada, Kal Tire. “We have team members and customers spread out across the province, and it’s nice to know the Children’s Hospital is available to provide their children with the medical treatment they need”
The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba is an independent agency which was established in 1971, with the purpose to raise and distribute funds for the advancement of knowledge and care in the fields of child health research and, thereby, contribute to the improved health of children everywhere.
Lawrence Prout, President & CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba says the donation from Kal Tire will go towards purchasing equipment, support programs and fund important medical research which provides children and their families with hope for the one thing they need the most – a cure. “Life can change without a moment’s notice and we know how devastating it can be for a family when their child becomes ill,” says Prout. “That is why it is important that we ensure our children have access to the latest advancements in medical technology and treatment.”
“We’re very grateful for Kal Tire’s efforts to support our foundation,” says Prout. “Donations like this help support the special healthcare needs of children through reliable and consistent funding of pediatric medical research, as well as equipment and programs at Children’s Hospital HSC – Winnipeg.”
Kal Tire stores across the country raised money for various charities as a way to give back and support the communities that helped them grow over the past 60 years in Canada.
